Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe has admitted that the action roles that he has taken on during his career have taken their toll on him physically.

The actor returns to the action movie next month when he takes on the role of Robin Hood in Ridley Scott's re-telling of the classic tale.

But Crowe reveals that he has suffered plenty of acting injuries down the years.

Speaking to The Herald Sun the actor said: I'm in a continuous death battle with my own body.

"I injured myself a lot on Gladiator, I actually injured myself on a silly little ice hockey movie called Mystery, Alaska, because I'd never skated.

"I've got wrist injuries and hand injuries from doing so much boxing (in Cinderella Man). I've got stuff all over the place."

Despite all that injuries that he has picked up Crowe reveals that he pushed himself to the limit for his role in Robin Hood.

"I pushed myself really hard for Robin Hood. You wake up in the morning and you feel 20 years younger."

Robin Hood is released 12th May.
