Russell Brand has joked that he deserves an Oscar for his performance in hi new movie get Him To The Greek.
Brand is back on the big screen this summer with his latest comedy Get Him To The Greek, which sees him reprise the role of Aldous Snow.
The character was first seen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall but is back alongside Jonah Hill and Sean Combs.
Speaking to PopEater.com the funnyman said: "I'm hoping to get an Oscar for this. I don't want to jinx it, but there's a real Oscar buzz around the film.
"A lot of people have been talking about Oscars. They're saying that I might get one. Hopefully, I'll get an Oscar and if I don't get it I might not make films anymore."
And while he won't win an Academy Award for his performance Brand believes that the Oscars should have a 'hard working' categories.
"I think effort should be rewarded at the Oscars, because how are we supposed to say to kids it's the trying that counts, if then I don't get an Oscar it's going to disappoint a lot of kids...
"If I don't get one, I'll say, 'Hold on, I'm trying my hardest, so how about an Oscar? It's only a little thing, make me an extra one. A new category - try that."
Get Him To The Greek is released 25th June.
