Russell Brand admits that he would like to vary his roles in the future but he is happy to play similar parts as he develops his acting career.
The British funnyman reprises the role of rocker Aldous Snow this week in Get Him To The Greek, which sees him reunite with Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller.
Speaking to Shortlist he said: "Down the road I will do different roles. But think of it - who are the best comic actors there have ever been? Richard Pryor, Jim Carrey, Steve Martin, Woody Allen.
"Jim Carrey - you know what's funny about him and what you want to see him do. Often, when those people go, 'Right in this film, I'm going to be completely different'. You think, 'No you f**king ain't! Do The Mask 4!'."
"I think at the beginning you have a bit where you go, 'This is what I am'. I'm at the very beginning of my career as a film actor.
"It's difficult because I come from TV in England and tabloids so people can go, 'Oh, he did take drugs, he does like women'."
Brand added: "But it doesn't make any difference whether you're playing a rock star or a farmer or an optician. It doesn't matter.
"I'm not a French hunchback with a lisp but I can pretend to do that. But if that's what you really want, go and get a French hunchback with a lisp. He'll be better at it!"
