Ron Perlman has revealed that he is keen to make a third Hellboy movie.
The actor was last seen as the hero back in 2008 as director Guillermo Del Toro brought a second movie to the big screen.
And Perlman hints that Del Toro always had a trilogy planned and wants to see the Hellboy story brought to a conclusion.
Speaking to Examiner the actor said: "I hope there's a third Hellboy, simply because [del Toro] always thought of it as a trilogy.
"When he set up that [Liz Sherman] is pregnant with twins at the end of Hellboy II, he kind of sketched out what the third Hellboy movie would look like. It's so theatrical. It's so epic. It's so dark."
"We have to find out about the Hellboy destiny. It's written in stone that he's going to destroy mankind.
"That's what he's been brought to Earth to do. So the whole dialogue between nurture and nature gets to live itself out in the third Hellboy movie. But if there's no third one, then the audience doesn't get to see any of that."
Perlman is back on the big screen this week as he teams up with Nicolas Cage for Season of the Witch.
He has also completed work on Frankie Goes Boom, Conan the Barbarian and Drive.
