Robert Pattinson is hoping to follow his Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe into theatre - insisting he "envies" the actor's stints on stage.

The Brits appeared together in 2005's Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, before Pattinson shot to fame as the star of the Twilight franchise.

Radcliffe has supplemented his work in the wizard movies with a role in West End play Equus, which transferred to Broadway in 2008, and Pattinson admits he dreams of achieving similar goals in the theatre.

He tells CBS, "I love the mix of stuff he has done in his career, always pushing the boundaries and stuff like that. I also envy his stints on stage - he is a great actor."

The actor is back on the big screen this summer as he returns to the role of Edward Cullen for Eclipse, the third movie in the Twilight Saga series.

It's the second film of the year for Pattinson after finding success with Remember Me.
