Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson has taken aim at the film industry in his native Britain - insisting there are "no jobs" for actors in the U.K.

The Twilight star admits he endured years of rejection before his meteoric rise to fame as the star of the vampire franchise phenomenon.

Now Pattinson, 23, is urging more Brits to swap their homeland for Hollywood.

He explains, "It's so funny there are so many more English people in L.A. than the last time I (had) been there. It's unbelievable...

"I can understand why they come from England, because there are no jobs in England. There's no film industry, so that's why they go."

And New Moon fever is in full swing this week as the highly anticipated second movie in The Twilight Saga hits the big screen today.

The British actor shot to fame last year in the role of vampire Edward Cullen, a role that he is reprising.

New Moon is out now.
