Robert Pattinson has revealed that he was uncertain about his acting future before he landed the role in Twilight.
The British actor's part as Edward Cullen in the big screen adaptation of the popular novel shot him to superstardom at the end of last year as the film was a huge hit at the box office.
In an interview with the Daily Star he said: "Before I got the role in Twilight, I didn't really know what I was doing. I didn't know if I did want to be an actor."
"I hadn't got to university and I was just bumming around and not feeling particularly good at anything. At the time I was desperately thinking I would never reach or achieve my goals."
He will return to that role later this year when New Moon, the second book in the Twilight Saga, is released.
Despite being five months away the release is already one of the most anticipated movies of 2009.
The actor is currently filming Remember Me in New York and was hit by a taxi a fortnight ago as he was fleeing fans.
He was however not injured in the accident.
