Robert Pattinson almost gave up acting to pursue a music career.
Filmmaker Oliver Irving, the director of How To Be, has revealed that the British actor was unhappy with the roles that he was being offered and considered leaving it all behind.
In an interview with People the director said: "He was thinking about giving up acting and maybe doing music solely when this role came along. He wanted to play the roles he wasn't getting.
"He has a playfulness and naivety that he was able to inject into the character. He's very down to earth and unpretentious. I think that's probably what makes him appealing."
However it seems his decision to persevere has paid off as his role in Twilight shot him to fame at the end of last year.
His role of Edward Cullen in the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's popular novel has made the young actor a teen heartthrob and he is currently filming the sequel New Moon with Eclipse also in the pipeline.
Later this month there is also a change of pace for the actor as he takes on the role of Salvador Dali in British movie Little Ashes.
