Robert Downey Jr has hinted that Iron Man 2 may surprise audiences.
The Golden Globe winning actor reprises the role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man for the second movie in the franchise, which sees Jon Favreau return to the director's chair.
But the actor believes that the storyline might not be what people expect.
In an interview with ContactMusic the actor said: "I'd always thought that we know Tony is a little nuts, so why don't we play with the expectations about the kind of stuff he does?
"I want to surprise people. There are some characters you may have heard are against Tony - well, we try to flip those expectations."
Iron Man first blasted onto the big screen back in 2008, breaking through the $100 million barrier in it's opening weekend in America.
The movie was a box office success and went on to gross over $585 million worldwide. And Downey Jr admitted that this success means that there was less to worry about second time around.
"The best thing is that the first movie went well enough that there's not much second guessing my and Jon's instincts about what works, you know?
"For no good enough reason, the folks at Marvel decided we were a very apt team with our far-out ideas of how to put a different spin on a superhero movie."
Iron Man 2 also sees Gwyneth Paltrow return to the role as Pepper Potts and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
They are joined by Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson while Don Cheadle takes over the role of Rhodes from Terrence Howard.
Iron Man 2 is released 30th April.
