Robert Downey Jr believes that he will eventually win an Oscar.
The Sherlock Holmes star was nominated for Best Actor back in 1992 for his performance as Charlie Chaplin in a biopic about the actor.
But he missed out on the night as the gong went to Al Pacino for his performance in Scent Of A Woman. But Downey Jr is confident that he will get his hands on that little golden statue eventually.
Speaking to GQ Magazine the actor said: "No I wasn't hurt.
"First of all, I want to qualify that there is no physical pain by not winning something. There is psychological turmoil and lack of understanding, but what is really going on here?
"Because I can say that I've been stiffed. I can lie, and pretend I worry. But I don't care. I. Don't. Care. Honestly.
"There was a time when I thought the only way out of hell was to win a certain type of award. And then I thought, what a pitiful existence.
"Look, as long as I stick around I'm going to end up with a bunch of them anyway as they're going to run out of people to give them to. And I'm probably going to win it one year when someone else deserves to win it.
"Why? Because it's my time, goddamit. And that's the way s**t works around here. I'm just an uptight mutt at the top of his game. Welcome to Hollywood, b***h!
"I'll see you at the Vanity Fair party and I'll be holding that golden statue you deserve 'cause guess what? It happened to me too!"
And the actor is back on the big screen this week with his new comedy movie Due Date, which sees him team up with filmmaker Todd Phillips.
Downey Jr is currently filming a second Sherlock Holmes film, it's not all awards doom and gloom as he picked up a Golden Globe from his role as Holmes earlier this year.
Due Date is released 5th November.
