Robert De Niro would be interested in doing a second Taxi Driver movie.
De Niro was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role as Travis Bickle after the movie was released back in 1976.
Taxi Driver was the second collaboration between De Niro and filmmaker Martin Scorsese, it remains one of the most successful.
In an interview with MTV the actor said: "I have talked to writer Paul Schrader and Marty. We've spoken about what would happen to Travis these years later.
"We had a thing and we tried to figure it out; Paul was trying to come up with something. And it just didn't seem to work."
There were rumours earlier this year that Lars Von Trier was teaming up with martin Scorsese to work on a new Taxi Driver project, rumours that were denied by Trier.
However De Niro believes the chance of a second movie isn't dead. "You never know - something could come up.
"I thought it would be interesting to find a way to bring Travis back all these years later - maybe with something ironic about where he'd end up, as he did in the first one.
"All these years later, maybe we could. It's still possible."
Despite looking forward to other projects the Oscar winner has three movies in the pipeline this year including Machete and Stone, the latter seeing him once again work with Edward Norton.
But he is also set to return to the character of Jack Tiberius Byrnes in Little Fockers.
