Rihanna left a lasting impression on director Peter Berg after begging to complete her own stunts in upcoming action movie Battleship - because the R&B star pulled off the moves "better than the stuntwoman".
The Umbrella hitmaker shot the film, her acting debut, on location in Hawaii last year (10). In it she stars as a cadet in the fight against an invasion of alien ships.
A stunt double was brought in to shoot the more gruelling scenes, but Rihanna feared the woman didn't look tough enough for the role and called on Berg to allow her to try out the moves instead.
She tells Cosmopolitan magazine, "I kept going, 'Put me in there!'"
Berg obliged in a bid to teach the singer-turned-actress a lesson.
He explains, "I did it just so she could see how hard stunts are and appreciate a good stuntwoman, but she dove off the deck, slammed herself on a metal grate, grabbed an actor, and dragged him back to the raft.
"Then she looked up at me and had this big smile on her face - she did it all better than the stuntwoman! There's definitely not a confidence issue with Rihanna."
Battleship, based on the game of the same name, also stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard and Tom Arnold.
