Ridley Scott has revealed that there is always a little creative tension when he works with actor Russell Crowe.
The pair team up again, for the fifth time, on Robin Rood, released next month, and despite there being rumours of on set tension during filming Scott claims that that is just their way.
Speaking to Empire the filmmaker said: Russell said to me ‘Is this our way?’ I said ‘I guess it is, but you know it can be a lot easier.’ But it is the way.
“You know, with Russell you had better be prepared. The first experience I had with him was on Gladiator and he would sit there and listen to me, and I though he was taking the piss, that he was patiently waiting for me to shut the fuck up.
“But he wasn’t, he was listening very intently. And in turn I would listen to him because Russell is inordinately intelligent and extremely well read on any material that he is about to do, and very opinionated about that.
“And therefore he’s a hard partner in crime; except that we have done it five times now and it works.”
The movie follows the story of an archer in the army of Richard Coeur de Lion who fights against the Norman invaders and becomes the legendary hero known as Robin Hood
Robin Hood is released 12th May.
