Ridley Scott has opened up about his new Alien movie saying it will be a prequel set thirty years before the original.
Scott is returning to the franchise for the first time since making the original back in 1979 in what will be the fourth movie in the series.
In an interview with Empire the filmmaker said: "It's a brand new box of tricks," Scott said. "We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper.
"The prequel will be a while ago. It's very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place 30 years prior."
"I never thought I'd look forward to a sequel. But a prequel is kind of interesting. I'm looking forward to doing that."
Scott was on the red carpet this week as he supported his filmmaker daughter Jordan at the London Film Festival where her new movie Cracks was being screened.
The director is currently working on Robin Hood, which once again teams him with actor Russell Crowe.
