Ridley Scott has admitted that he is keen to shoot a Robin Hood sequel, despite the new movie having not yet been released.
Scott re-unites with his Gladiator leading man Russell Crowe, who takes on the role of Hood, for a retelling of the story of the infamous outlaw.
The movie isn't released for another month but Scott is already looking forward to future projects.
In an interview with The Times the filmmaker said: "It is the beginnings of how the man becomes known as Robin the Hood. You don't really get that until the last few minutes. When you realise that 'Ah, this is who he is'.
"Let's say we might presume there's a sequel. Honestly, I thought why not have the potential for a sequel, particularly if it is a genre that you absolutely love and has never been fully explored?"
"If there were to be a sequel to Robin Hood, you would have a constant enemy throughout, King John, and you would follow his reign of 17 years, and the signing of Magna Carta could be Robin's final act."
Crowe leads a all star cast in the movie including Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, Danny Huston and William Hurt.
The film will open the Cannes Film Festival later this year.
Robin Hood is released 14th May.
