Rhys Ifans has revealed that it was strange 'morphing' into Howard Marks for his new movie Mr Nice.
The actor takes on the role of the cannabis smuggler, and friend, Marks in Bernard Rose's biopic movie project.
Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "It's strange because I knew him so well, I didn't have to study him," Ifans said. "It was a strange kind of morphing.
"Little things like wearing the wig [and] feeling that I looked like him, which is not generally how I act. It's a difficult process but it happens, it's almost shamanic."
"I was more concerned that Howard would be satisfied, that was kind of a big pressure. Thankfully he is, or at least I believe him when he says he is!"
Mr Nice is just one of a series of projects that Ifans has worked on this year, having already starred in Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang.
He has completed work on Passion Play, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Anonymous and he is currently filming a movie for TV, Neverland.
Mr Nice is released 8th October.
