Ray Winstone got so carried away filming his own stunts for 2007 movie Beowulf, he broke his ribs during a fight scene.
The Departed star spent a day dangling from a harness shooting an action sequence for the film, in which he played the title role.
And Winstone admits his overly enthusiastic acting ended in injuries.
He says, "I love having tear-ups in films. I got really injured filming Beowulf. I was swinging on wires pretending to kill this dragon and smashed into the set and broke a load of ribs.
"I get carried away - silly as a bag of boll**ks."
The actor returns to the big screen this week alongside Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness.
Gibson stars as homicide detective Thomas Craven investigates the death of his activist daughter, he uncovers not only her secret life, but a corporate cover-up and government collusion that attracts an agent tasked with cleaning up the evidence.
Edge of Darkness is released 29th January.
