Ralph Fiennes will receive The Variety UK Achievement in Film Award on Monday 27 October at BFI Southbank.The exclusive special event will feature an extended on-stage interview with Fiennes, including a comprehensive look back through his previous body of work and a preview of his forthcoming projects. The award celebrates Fiennes artistic contribution to the UK film industry and international cinema. Ever since his TV lead-role debut portraying T.E. Lawrence in A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia, Fiennes has established himself an unassailable reputation for dedication to his craft, brutal honesty and searing power. The actor has carried this through two decades of work, whether on the big screen or the stage, with a series of memorable performances in films ranging from Anthony Minghellas The English Patient to Steven Spielbergs Schindlers List and David Cronenbergs Spider. Most recently, Fiennes has excelled in Martin McDonaghs In Bruges and Saul Dibbs The Duchess, not to mention his role as Harry Potters arch-nemesis Voldemort in the blockbusting series. Other recently announced additions to the Festival programme include the UK premieres of Spike Lees Miracle at ST. Anna and Jesús Ponces Lazy Days (Dejate caer).
