Quentin Tarantino has described Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained as the first two parts of a trilogy.
Tarantino is back in the director's chair in the new year with Django Unchained - his first movie since Basterds back in 2009.
And while the two movies are completely different he believes that they do sit well side by side.
Speaking to Total Film the director said: "Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained bespeak a trilogy.
"As different as they are, there is a companion-piece quality. There might very well be a third one. I just don't know what it is yet."
Tarantino has brought together a great cast for the movie as Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio an Samuel L. Jackson are all set to star.
Inglourious Basterds battled it out for the Best Picture Oscar back in 2009 and Django Unchained could well be another Oscar contender for Tarantino.
Django Unchained is released 18th January.
