Pierce Brosnan believes that he never nailed the character of Bond during his time in the role.
The actor took over the part as 007 from Timothy Dalton back in 1995 with Golden Eye, and went on to play the character of Bond on three more occasions.
In an interview with Venice magazine the actor said: "It was one of those things I always struggled with. I never felt that I really nailed it.
"There was always a hint of Sean Connery and Roger Moore that was so indelible in my own mind."
The actor also admitted that he was disappointed by the script of Tomorrow Never Dies as it wasn't as good as his debut Golden Eye.
"When I did 'Tomorrow Never Dies' I knew the movie wasn't up to speed, it wasn't as good as 'Goldeneye'.
"I'm proud to have played 007. It's a small group of men, a prestigious group to be in the company of."
And the actor is back on the big screen this week with The Ghost, a big screen adaptation of Robert Harris' novel Ghost which is directed by Roman Polanski.
The Ghost is released 16th April.
