Philip Seymour Hoffman is heading back to the New York stage, in a new production of Shakespeare's Othello.
The Oscar winner will play villain Iago in the classic tragedy, alongside American Gangster star John Ortiz, who will portray the title role.
The show will debut at Austria's Weiner Festwochen next month (Jun09), before transferring to Off Broadway's Public Theater.
Hoffman is a New York stage veteran with two Tony Award nominations to his name.
The actor launched his film and television career in 1991 when he appeared in criminal drama Law & Order.
But it's only in recent years that the actor has gained a reputation as being a real Hollywood heavyweight. he won his first best Actor Oscar in 2005 for his role in Capote.
He has since followed this up with two Best Supporting Actor nominations for Charlie Wilson's War and Doubt.
He is currently filming Jack Goes Boating, which he is starring in as well as directing.
