Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman is reportedly plotting his return to Broadway in a revival of Arthur Miller's play Death Of A Salesman.

Hoffman is said to have teamed with Tony-winner Mike Nichols, who directed him in a New York stage production of The Seagull in 2001, to resurrect the play in the Big Apple next year (11).

The 1949 drama was last on Broadway in 1999, when Brian Dennehy won a Tony Award for his starring role as tragic salesman, Willy Loman.

According to the New York Post, Hoffman will take over the lead, while actress Linda Emond is allegedly his top choice to play Loman’s wife, Linda.

Addressing rumours of Hoffman's involvement, Dennehy says: "I know this play really fascinates him. He saw me do it in London, and we spent a lot of time talking about it afterward."

Hoffman last appeared on Broadway in Long Day's Journey Into Night in 2003.
