Peter Jackson has desctribed Tintin as an older brother.
The filmmaker grew up reading ther books by Herge and this summer he worked with Steven Spielberg on bring the character to the big screen.
While Spielberg directed the movie Jackson was on hand served as producer - and it looks like he will be directing the second movie.
Speaking to The Press Association the filmmaker said: "You grow up looking at Tintin - in my case, being an only child - he was like the brother that I wished I had.
"The older brother that went on these adventures, dangerous adventures and exciting. And then as I grew older, Tintin stayed the same age, and I sort of became older than him.
"And you start to appreciate the satire and the world in which Herge lived in. The decades of incredible social upheaval in Europe...."
But before Jackson can begin work on any Tintin sequel there is the small matter of The Hobbit to complete - a movie that looks set to be one of the biggest of 2012.
The film has been split into two parts and will be released in winter of 2012 and 2013.
