Peter Jackson has begun the search for The Hobbit cast.
Jackson and his casting director Victoria Burrows have been jetting around meeting with a whole host of actors.
While the Oscar winner has not yet put pen to paper over directing the movie according to The Hollywood Reporter a deal is close to being struck.
And while we have all be left in limbo wondering what the hell is going on it seems that Jackson and his casting director Victoria Burrows have been jetting around meeting with a whole host of actors.
But lets hope that Jackson has paid a little visit to Ian McKellan who threatened to walk away from the role of Gandalf unless he was informed about what was going on with the project.
While Jackson may be getting the casting side of the project off the ground there is still no sign of a start date for shooting as MGM's financial worries continue.
MGM own half of the rights to The Hobbit, but it looks like Warner Bros are keen to take over full ownership of those rights.
Guillermo Del Toro left the project last month because of all of this uncertainty, despite working on pre-production for two years.
But Jackson is still due to direct the second part of the Adventures of Tintin project that he has with Steven Spielberg who has already directed part one.
