Peter Berg has revealed that Battleship is the popcorn movie that he has always wanted to make but not the naval film that he always envisioned making.
Berg is back in the director’s chair this week as Battleship hit’s the big screen and the naval themed movie is something he has always wanted to make.
And while Berg thought about making movie based on real battles he admits that he wanted to make a fun family film.
Speaking to FemaleFirst the filmmaker said: “With Battleship I wanted to make a fun movie, I wanted to make a summer popcorn movie and I wanted to make a movie for the whole family.
“I love Battleship it is not the naval movie that I thought I would make but it is the summer popcorn movie that I always wanted to make.”
The movie brings together an all star cast that includes Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard and Rihanna.
And while Battleship is not the real life naval movie that Berg had in mind he will be tackling a real-life story with his next movie Lone Survivor, which is based on a book of the same name.
Battleship is released 11th April
