Without this one man, none of it would have happened
Sir Patrick Stewart dedicated his knighthood to his childhood school teacher after receiving the prestigious honour from British monarch Queen Elizabeth II.
The Hollywood veteran attended a special ceremony at London's Buckingham Palace on Wednesday (02Jun10) when he officially became a 'Sir'.
And the 69 year old insists he owes "literally everything" to his secondary school mentor Cecil Dormand, who encouraged him to pursue a career in acting.
He says, "Although many people in my life and career have had a great influence on me, without this one man, none of it would have happened."
Stewart, who began his career on stage before finding fame in the Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series in the late 1980s, was saluted for his 50-year acting achievements in the Queen's New Year's Honours at the beginning of 2010.
The actor was last seen on the big screen in a cameo role in X-Men Origins:Wolverine reprising the role of Professor Xavier.
