Paranormal Activity 2

Paranormal Activity 2

Paranormal Activity 2 has toppled animation movie Despicable Me from the top of the box office.

This is a highly anticipated sequel to the movie of 2009, which enjoyed massive box office success, and the sequel looks like it's going to follow in it's footsteps.

After experiencing what they think are a series of "break-ins", a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem.

The movie took £3.7 million this weekend to comfortably take the top spot.

Last week's number one Despicable Me fell just one place to number two while there was a second new entry inside the top three in the form of Red.

Red is an adaptation of the DC Comic and brings together an impressive cast of Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich.

The Social Network was down two places at number four while Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole was a new entry to round off the top five.

A fourth new entry was in at sixth as Alpha & Omega enjoyed it's opening weekend while Vampire's Such was down four at number seven.

The final new entry on the chart this week was comedy Easy A, which stars Emma Stone, as it opened at number eight. Life As We Know It was down four at number nine and this week's biggest faller was Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps which dropped six places to number ten.
