Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom has described working on The Hobbit as a 'great honour'.

The Brit actor is set to reprise the role of Legolas as Peter Jackson returns to Middle Earth to bring The Hobbit to the big screen.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most successful franchises of all time and launched the career of Bloom a decade ago.

And that actor admits that he is thrilled to be returning.

Speaking to The Sun the actor said: "I'm excited at the prospect. It's ten years ago that I started that journey, so the fact Pete wanted me to be involved was a huge honour.

"The debt of gratitude I owe him for everything, is huge... it's beyond huge. If he said, 'jump', I'd say, 'how high?'.

"I don't know how much there is for me to get in there, but it's going to be great."

But Bloom will not be the only actor reprising a role as Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis and Cate Blanchett are just a few of the names that will be back.

Filming is currently underway in New Zealand and the story is set to be split into two movies to be released in 2012 and 2013.
