Oliver Stone has described Charlie Sheen as 'perfect' for his role in Platoon.
The 1986 Vietnam War movie, which went on to scoop Best Picture at the Oscars, is celebrating it's twenty fifth anniversary this year.
Sheen took on the role of Chris and it proved to be a big breakthrough performance from the young actor.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Stone said: "Charlie was a dumb-struck 17-year-old the first time he came in for the film, back when we were going to make it in '84.
"And in those two years, he'd grown and seemed perfectly wide-eyed and had a vaguely privileged look. I think he did a great job.
"He was perfect for the movie. He conveys the horror of the place. I like his performance."
Stone went on to team up with Sheen for a second time for Wall Street in 1987 - which also starred Michael Douglas.
