Olga Kurylenko was challenged by her new role in Centurion because she has no lines of dialogue.
The actress is back on the big screen this week in Neil Marshall’s historical movie about the Ninth Legion.
She takes on the role of Etain, a Pict warrior, who had her tongue cut out by the Romans leaving her mute. So the actress was forced to develop other ways of showing off Etain’s character.
Speaking to Total Film she said: “Not having any dialogue was tough because I had just my body - but that’s what I went for it.
“I thought a lot about body movement how she’s like an animal. She’s described very often in the script as a she wolf, so I thought there was something animalistic about her.
“Everything is in the eyes and in this tension - this excitement of tracking people, hunting, hating and killing them. It’s a good exercise.
“These are types of things you do to develop yourself. When you have no text, you have to use everything else.
The movie is Kurylenko’s first film since Quantum of Solace and Kirot back in 2008. The Cross and There be Dragons are just two other projects coming up for the actress this year.
Centurion is out now.
