Oblivion

Tom Cruise is set to kick of the blockbuster summer this year with his new movie Oblivion.

The film sees him return to the science fiction genre and team up with Oscar winner Morgan Freeman.

And a new image, courtesy of USA Today, featuring the pair has just been released as excitement and intrigue begins to grow around this film.

Joseph Kosinski made his directorial debut with Tron Legacy and now he is back to bring to the big screen a graphic novel written by himself and Arvid Nelson.

Seeing that he is so familiar with the story it will come as no surprise to learn that he teamed up with William Monahan to pen the screenplay.

Cruise and Freeman are joined on the cast list by Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo and the early trailer for the film promised much.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft.

Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion is released 12th April.
