Nicolas Cage has revealed that his Big Daddy character in Kick Ass is an homage to Batman.
But the actor admitted that it wasn't the latest versions of the caped crusader that inspired his character but Adam west's depiction of the character.
Speaking to MTV the actor said: "When Damon is in his Big Daddy mode, that uniform is like his homage to Batman - not 'The Dark Knight', but older, Adam West-style. A little bit of my performance was the homage.
"Adam West would have been the Batman that he grew up with. And that would be the Batman that would help him get the job done.
"I would like to meet West. I hope he would like my homage to him. I hope he would like that, yeah."
Cage takes on the role of Damon Macready in Matthew Vaughn's comic book movie who, along with his daughter are a crime fighting due hell bent on stopping mob boss Frank D'Amico.
Despite being surrounded in controversy Kick Ass opened at number three at the UK box office, as well as being met by great reviews. It is yet to open in America.
And it's all set to be a busy summer for Cage with The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Season of the Witch both on the horizon.
