Nick Cassavetes has quit the John Gotti biopic movie, which is set to star John Travolta, just a week after hosting a press conference to announce the cast.
Trade paper Variety reports scheduling conflicts with another project forced Cassavetes to step down, but the film will be going ahead, as planned, with another director.
Travolta has committed to stay with the project, and Joe Pesci is on board to play Gotti sidekick Angelo Ruggiero. Lindsay Lohan is in talks to play Gotti's daughter Victoria.
Cassavetes has not been seen in the director's chair since he helmed the big screen adaptation of My Sister's Keeper.
However he has already completed work on Yellow, which will star Ben Foster, Sienna Miller and Hank Azaria.
