Chris Weitz has claimed that New Moon is more guy friendly that it's predecessor Twilight.
The filmmaker believes that a male audience will connect more with the character of Jacob Black in the November sequel.
In an in interview with Empire the filmmaker said: "There's more fighting and that should appeal to the boys.
"There is also a male character, Jacob, who is inherently a more viable character for most boys because he's like an ordinary guy.
"He works on cars, whereas Edward is a perfect man, and maybe he only appeals to perfect men. That makes the demographic rather small! So there's more of a way into this one - we do hope to up the male demographic!"
Chris has taken over the reigns from Catherine Hardwicke for the second of Stephenie Meyers' novels to be adapted for the big screen.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart return as lovers Edward Cullen and Bella Swan while Taylor Lautner's character Jacob Black gets a much larger role.
New Moon is released 20th November.
