Ne-Yo has revealed that he didn't understand Aaron Eckhart's acting technique when they first started working together on Battle: Los Angeles.
The singer turned actor admits that he couldn't get his head around staying in character during breaks from filming.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Ne-Yo said: "It was a little weird at first. I didn't understand the concept of staying in character the whole time.
"We almost got in a little tussle just behind me not understanding that he's still in character."
And despite the misunderstanding Ne-Yo had nothing but praise and admiration for his co-star.
He added: "He's a fantastic actor. I learned a lot just by watching him."
Battle: Los Angeles is the first movie for Ne-Yo since he appeared in Stomp The Yard back in 2007.
And he has other projects in the pipeline as he has already completed work on Red Tails, which also stars Cuba Gooding Jr, and he is set to work on 4Chosen.
Battle: Los Angeles is out now.
