Natalie Portman has revealed that she is not a fan of run of the mill romantic comedies.
The actress teams up with Ashton Kutcher for No Strings Attached and Portman insists that it is nothing like rom-coms that have gone before.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly the actress said: “I’ve always wanted to do [a romantic comedy]. But the girls are always in fashion, and it’s always about their clothes.
"They always want to get married at the end. There’s some kind of makeover scene. That stuff offends me.
“[Screenwriter] Liz Meriwether writes women so specifically and smartly.
“My character is a woman who’s working, who’s trying to create her own construct for relationships, who’s funny herself - and isn’t just the girlfriend of a funny guy.”
But it’s Black Swan that is grabbing all the headlines at the moment as Portman picked up a Best Actress Golden Globe at the weekend.
The psychological thriller is directed by Darren Aronofsky, his first movie since the Wrestler, and Portman is favourite to scoop the Oscar,
No Strings Attached is just one of a series of projects that Portman has due for release - The Other Woman, Your Highness and Thor are all on the release schedule.
No Strings Attached is released 25th January.
