Natalie Portman has revealed that she is 'honoured' by her Best Actress Oscar nomination and praised director Darren Aronofsky for his work.
I am so honoured and grateful to the Academy for this recognition.
The actress has been critical acclaim for her central performance in Black Swan and the movie went on to pick up five Oscar nominations yesterday.
The film was nominated for Best Picture, Best Actress (Portman), Best Director (Aronofsky), Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing.
Speaking to MTV News the actress said: "I am so honoured and grateful to the Academy for this recognition. It is a wonderful culmination of the 10-year journey with Darren to make this film.
"Making 'Black Swan' is already the most meaningful experience of my career, and the passion shown for the film has completed the process of communication between artists and audience.
"I am so thankful for the support we have received and I share this honour with the entire cast and crew of the film, especially Darren Aronofsky."
And Portman is currently the favourite to win the Best Actress gong after picking up the Golden Globe for her performance only a couple of weeks ago.
Annette Bening is widely regarded as her biggest competition for her role in The Kids Are All Right but Nicole Kidman, Michelle Williams and Jennifer Lawrence are also nominated.
Black Swan is out now.
