Natalie Portman has revealed that she barely ate whilst filming her new movie Black Swan.
The movie sees the actress team up with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky for the ballet drama - which the Portman calls one of the most difficult things that she has experienced.
Speaking to the Daily Mail the actress said: "It was more difficult than anything I’ve ever experienced before.
“I like to go home and be myself but with this one I didn’t get the chance. It didn’t leave me.
"I was barely eating, I was working 16 hours a day. I was almost method acting without intending to. I do wonder now how people can do this kind of role when they have a family."
And while the shoot may have been a struggle for the actress the movie has been critically acclaimed on the festival circuit and has featured in the awards season so far.
Black Swan and Portman’s performance in the movie are tipped to pick up Oscar nominations later this year.
Black Swan is released 21st January.
