A second Monsters, Inc. movie is reportedly in the pipeline.
The original movie from Pixar was released back in 2001 and introduced us for the first time to Mike and Sully.
It was a huge hit grossing over $525 million at the global box office and being nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar, losing out to Shrek.
It's rumoured that Pete Docter will return to the director's chair, he is currently promoting his new movie Up which is top of the U.S box office and opened Cannes Film Festival. Monsters, Inc 2 is his next project at Pixar.
When the first film was released it was only Pixar's fourth movie but now ten movies in they have become the major force in animation cinema.
Monsters, Inc. joins the likes of Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 that are also in the pipeline. There is no word yet as to whether Billy Crystal and John Goodman will return to voice the characters of Sully and Mike.
Pixar's current project is Up and is a coming of age story as Carl Fredricksen has spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest.
When Carl was a child, he met and eventually married a girl named Ellie who grew up in a small midwestern town.
Ellie always dreamed of exploring the mountains but died before she got a chance. Now, when developers threaten to move him into an assisted living home, Carl decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie.
