Mickey Rourke has revealed that he wants to make quality movies and is not interested in the size of the budget.
The actor steps into the big budget blockbuster this week with Iron Man 2 and while he admits that he was excited about the project the scale of a movie doesn't interest him.
Speaking to Movie.ie he said: "It certainly doesn't hurt, to be part of a movie that will probably be seen by millions of people around the world.
"That said, I'm more concerned with starring in good movies this time round, and something like this fits the bill.
"The fact that it's got a budget that could start a decent war is really neither here nor there, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't exciting about being in a big, big Hollywood movie.
"Even back when I was the talk of the town, I wasn't getting movies like this. I was too precious back then.
And while he now more choosy about what roles he takes on Rourke knows that he can't be too picky, but enjoys working in mainstream films.
"I can't afford to make movies that no one wants to see except me and my mates. I think the mainstream is a great place to be subversive, to be dangerous, to mix it up.
"What's the point of felling a tree if no one's around to hear it fall? I put as much work into this movie as I would something like The Wrestler, or Rumble Fish, or Angel Heart."
Iron Man 2 is released 30th April.
