Mickey Rourke has reportedly signed up to play the lead role in St. Vincent, the new movie from Walter Hill.
According to Variety the fifty six year old actor will play an assassin who returns to New York to complete a botched hit in St. Vincent.
Rourke has seen his acting career sore in recent months after his role in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler as down and out wrestling star Randy 'The Ram' Robinson.
His role has seen him gain critical and commercial success as well as a Golden Globe and Bafta for Best Actor for his performance, as well as an Oscar nomination.
The actor has featured heavily during the award season and the Oscar race for Best Actor is now seen as a two horse race between Rourke and Sean Penn for his role in political drama Milk.
And 2009 looks set to be a busy year for the actor with roles in Killshot, The Informers, 13 and is rumoured to be in the Iron Man sequel, a role that is yet to be confirmed.
