Michelle Williams read anything she could get her hands on about Marilyn Monroe as she prepared for her role in My Week With Marilyn - as well as watching all of her movies.
Williams is set to play the iconic star in the Simon Curtis directed movie which looks at the filming of The Prince and the Showgirl.
Williams was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar earlier this year for Blue Valentine and could well make it two in a row with My Week With Marilyn
Speaking to MSN Movies the actress said: "I read anything and everything that I could get my hands on.
"The most useful thing was to watch her movies over and over again, to have them in my ears, to make them play like a screen in my mind."
"I am very fond of The Prince and the Showgirl still - I can't count the number of times I have seen it!
"Of course Some Like It Hot and I have special affection for The Misfits as it was a treasured opportunity for her to take on a dramatic role."
The movie sees Williams joined by an all star cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic Cooper, Emma Watson and Judi Dench.
My Week With Marilyn is released 25th November.
