Michael Sheen has urged the family of the late Brian Clough to go and see the new movie The Damned United.
The film follows the forty four days that the football manager spent at Leeds United in 1974 before he was sacked.
However the family stayed away from the premiere in London's Leicester Square in protest of the of Clough's portrayal in the 2006 novel by David Peace.
In an interview before the premiere Sheen told the BBC: "It's a much more affectionate and respectful look at Brian."
"I hope they get to see it because I can understand their fears. I know they weren't happy with the book but I think the film is a very different animal.
"We felt that any film that was going to be about Brian Clough would have to be something that showed why people had so much affection and admiration for him.
The Damned United is releaed 27th March.
