Michael Patrick King has distanced himself from plans for a prequel movie, insisting he has no interest in exploring characters' early lives.
King was responsible for writing several episodes of the raunchy hit series and directed the big screen adaptation as well as its follow-up, Sex and the City 2.
But the filmmaker is adamant he is not involved in telling the backstory of leading lady Sarah Jessica Parker's character, Carrie Bradshaw.
He says, "I am not working on any Sex And The City prequel at all. My Carrie Bradshaw started at 33 and I took her to 40...
"For me the idea of going backward and making her less evolved... is something I don't even imagine doing... I have no connection to a prequel."
Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus have both been tapped to play Sex and the City characters in their youth.
