Michael Fassbender says that he constantly reads the script as he prepares for a movie.
Praise is coming left, right and centre for the actor of late after his superb performance as Edward Rochester in Jane Eyre and now his new movie Shame.
Shame has been met with great reviews on the festival circuit - with Fassbender picking up Best Actor in Venice for his central performance.
Speaking to MSN Movies the actor said: "It's the script, it's always just the script.
"I sort of spend a lot of time with the script at home reading, re-reading, re-reading, and after a while the character just kind of seeps into the enamel like putting on an extra skin.
"And then you just ask yourself questions all the time - what would Brandon do, what are his motivations. Pretty boring stuff, sort of homework stuff really."
And Fassbender has had not just one movie no the festival circuit but two as he teamed up with Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen for A Dangerous Method - a movie which has also been met well.
Shame is released 13th January 2012.
