Simon Kinberg has hinted that the sequel X-Men: First Class will focus on the character of Magneto.
Michael Fassbender is set to return as Magneto in the movie while Matthew Vaughn is also set to direct.
X-Men: First Class took the story of Xavier and Magneto right back to the beginning and the second movie will explore Magento a little further.
Speaking to MTV Kinberg said: "That’s what was so cool about the first one and what we want to continue. Magneto becomes the villain ultimately of the franchise but he’s a much more complicated character as a young man.
"He’s someone you sympathize with, you care about you root for even though might not necessarily agree with his methods, you understand his philosophy."
The script is still in the early stages but there has been talk about a sequel for some time.
X-Men: First Class was met well by the critics when it was released last summer and it went on to take in excess of £353 million at the global box office,
Michael Fassbender will be back on the big screen this summer with Prometheus, which will see him team up with director Ridley Scott.
