Michael Caine has hinted that Johnny Depp has not been cast in the sequel to The Dark Knight.
Ever since the release of The Dark Knight last summer rumours about what character would appear in a possible sequel and who would play them have been rife.
But one that refused to go away was the appearance of The Riddler in a possible third movie and both Johnny Depp and Eddie Murphy had been linked to the role.
In an interview with MTV the actor said: "Johnny Depp is great in anything, but there is no Johnny Depp in this Batman. They tell me in no uncertain terms.
"There is nobody, there's no script, there's nothing. It can't possibly be made before 2011 because Inception is such a big picture."
But Caine, who plays Alfred the butler, went on to joke that he is no longer told anything about the movie because of previous statements that he has made.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman has also been linked to the sequel with rumours that he will take on the role of The Penguin.
