GQ Magazine honoured veteran British actor Sir Michael Caine with a Lifetime Achievement Award.The 74-year-old Alfie star was presented with the gong by Jude Law at a ceremony in the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden on Tuesday (04Sep07) night. Other winners included James McAvoy, who was named Lab Series New Leading Man of the Year award, Kanye West for International Man of the Year, and Orlando Bloom, who was lauded with the Editor's Special Award.Sir Elton John hosted the awards, which were also attended by Madonna, who presented a trophy at the event.Michael Caine burst onto the movie scene in 1964 with his role in Zulu and an upper class British officer.Since then he has starred in a string of iconic movies including The Ipcress File in 1965, Alfie in 1966 The Italian Job in 1969 and Get Carter in 1971.The actor has been nominated for an Oscar six times winning in Best Supporting Actor in 1986 for Hannah and Her Sisters and in 1999 for The Cider House Rules.
He is currently filming The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, where he is reprising his role as Alfred, Bruce Wayne's butler.
