Michael Caine has admitted that the was happy to take on a small role to work alongside Christopher Nolan once again.
The British actor is appearing in a fourth Nolan project, following on from Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Prestige and he has revealed that he likes working with the filmmaker.
Speaking to ITN at the world premiere of Inception the actor said: "We're very good friends. I like working with him and he likes working with the same people over again.
"As you see in (Inception), he's got Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy and me and we starred in Batman Begins," he added.
"In this picture there wasn't really a part for me. So I said, 'what is there.' He said 'well there's three days, you're the
father of Leonardo.' So I said, 'I'll do that'."
Inception is the first movie for Caine since the critically acclaimed Harry Brown in 2009 but he will be lend his voice animation movie Gnomeo and Juliet alongside James McAvoy, Jason Statham and Emily Blunt.
But he will be returning to the role of Alfred Pennyworth and another Nolan project with a third Batman movie, which is penciled on for a 2012 release.
Inception is released 16th July.
