Michael Bay has revealed that he almost cancelled Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen after Shia LaBeouf injured his hand.
The actor was involved in a car accident during the shoot that severly damaged his hand and the plug on the movie was almost pulled.
He told STV: I actually read it on CNN online and was like, 'This can't be true'. I called my line producer Ian Bryce and he said 'It's true', and I was like 'Oh, my God'. He said 'Let's shut down', and I said 'We can't shut down!'"
But to keep the production going has proved to be a wise move as the movie grossed over $200 million in the US alone in it's opening weekend.
The film shoot continued after LaBeouf's accident and Bay wrote the actor's injury into the script.
"I immediately had them find the best people in the world to make a special cast that had never been made, with the Kevlar fingers. It was very thin, so you could photograph it.
"The problem was, if he were to jam his fingers, he could have lost his fingers forever, so we had some experts of the world come up with this design."
There are already rumours of a third movie in the pipeline but whether bay will return to the director's chair if unknown.
